Art Packaging Bubble Bags

Art Packaging Bubble Bags

The Gallery Pouch reusable art packaging solution from Frame Destination has simplified Art packing, shipping and transporting of picture frames and gallery wraps. Feedback from galleries, museums and artists who use art packaging for shipping and protecting their fine art are in agreement that the Gallery Pouch is the preferred solution.

A Unique Art Packing Solution for Artists

Artists appreciate the unique features of the Gallery Pouch. Made from clear polyethylene, you can still see through the bag, so that when artwork is packed inside there is no need for unpacking it to see which piece is inside. The durability of the Pouch has been lauded as well. Both the flat bag or rounded tube versions are crafted from three-sixteenths of an inch thick polyethylene, which create a very strong and durable bag that will stand up to reuse with style. The Gallery Pouch is simple and easy to use; there is a velcro closure on either the width or the length, providing the ultimate ease of use. Pouches are available in over one hundred different sizes, and you can even get them custom sized as well. These lightweight art packing solutions, use air bubbles sealed within polyethylene layers, making them an inexpensive yet durable option that helps to cut down on shipping costs on art packing used for shipping or transporting artwork.

Archival Photo and Print Storage

cd storage
Frame Destination, Inc. recently released a new press release about our selection of archival photo storage products. Digital photos take many forms from CDs and DVDs to final framing products. We offer several different types of products to help make file and print stoage easier.

For the digital photo files we offer archival CD/DVD storage products including sleeves and binders. They use a very advanced Archivalware Corrosion Intercept technology to protect the data from fading. We also offer adhesive print sleeves that are ideal for storing CD’s in the back of photo albums. Finally, we also have an album with slip case to conveniently and safely hold the CD/DVD storage sleeves.

For photographs and inkjet prints we offer clear bags from (clearbags) and print sleeves. Our clearbags have the adhesive strip on the bag instead of the flap to help protect the artwork when sliding it in and out. We also offer 10-packs of clear bags in addition to the more traditional and cost effective 100-pack.

Larger groups of photo’s and prints can be conveniently stored in our acid-free photo storage boxes from Lineco. They are solid black with reinforced corners and the front folds down for easy access. In addition to standard sizes such as 11×14 we offer these boxes in 13×19 and 11×17 for inkjet paper.

Sell Matted and Mounted Photos with Clear Bags

Posted in Storage on June 23rd, 2008 by Mark Rogers – Be the first to comment

We have a lot of customers that sell unframed photography in Art Shows and they told us the best bags for matted prints were the protective style crystal clear bags from Impact Images (clearbags.com) so that is what we carry. These clear bags are unique from most others because the reusable adhesive strip is attached to the bag instead of the flap. That way the mat or backing board cant get stuck to the adhesive strip as you insert and remove it from the bag. Most of the sizes we carry such as 18×24 are actually 18 7/16 x 24 1/4 which makes them large enough to handle and 18×24 mat and backing package that is over 1/4 inch thick.

We do not carry all of the sizes that Impact Images carries but the ones we do carry we sell for less and we have quantity discounts that start at just two 100-packs. If you don’t need a full 100-pack we also carry many sizes in 10-packs but Impact does not sell any 10-packs.

We asked Impact Images to offer the 17×25 size clear bag and they added that product for our customers that are printing on the new 17×25 inkjet paper. This paper is ideal for those with 3/2 cameras that prefer to print 16×24 instead of cropping down to 16×20. We also had them do a custom run of 13×38 clear bags for customers using our partner Red River’s 13×38 panoramic printing paper.

Frame Destination recently added the 17×25 clear bag size from Impact Images. This new clearbag size is being supported by inkjet paper companies such as Red River Paper and is ideal for printing 3/2 image ratio prints 16×24 that will not fit on the more typical 17×22 paper size.

At Picture Frames Destination, in addition to helping photographers and fine art photography
collectors display their prints, we also try to help store them. To that end we offer Lineco Archival Photo Storage Boxes. These are museum quality acid free boxes with metal reinforced corners to prevent crushing. This photo storage box can be used to store prints, negatives, scrapbooks, photo albums and documents. We also sell acid free tissue which can be used to layer between art, photos, and other documents to help prevent them from hurting or bonding with each other. This archival tissue can also be used for stacking inkjet prints while they are allowed to dry after printing. In addition to being used as a photograph storage box they can be used for things like comic or magazine storage box. We carry them in standard photo sizes as

From the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s special publication of the care and handling of Cds and DVDs

Quick Reference Guide for Care and Handling

Do:

  1. Handle discs by the outer edge or the center hole.
  2. Use a non solvent-based felt-tip permanent marker to mark the label side of the disc.
  3. Keep dirt or other foreign matter from the disc.
  4. Store discs upright (book style) in plastic cases specified for CDs and DVDs.
  5. Return discs to storage cases immediately after use.
  6. Leave discs in their packaging (or cases) to minimize the effects of environmental changes.
  7. Open a recordable disc package only when you are ready to record data on that disc.
  8. Store in a cool, dry, dark environment in which the air is clean.
  9. Remove dirt, foreign material, fingerprints, smudges, and liquids by wiping with a clean cotton fabric in a straight line from the center of the disc toward the outer edge.
  10. Use CD/DVD cleaning detergent, isopropyl alcohol or methanol to remove stubborn dirt or material.
  11. Check the disc surface before recording.

Do not:

  1. Touch the surface of the disc.
  2. Bend the disc.
  3. Use adhesive labels.
  4. Store discs horizontally for a long time (years).
  5. Open a recordable optical disc package if you are not ready to record.
  6. Expose discs to extreme heat or high humidity.
  7. Expose discs to extreme rapid temperature or humidity changes.
  8. Expose recordable discs to prolonged sunlight or other sources of UV light.
  9. Write or mark in the data area of the disc (area where the laser “reads”).
  10. Clean in a circular direction around the disc.

For CDs especially do not:

  1. Scratch the label side of a CD.
  2. Use a pen, pencil, or fine tip marker to write on the disc.
  3. Write on the disc with markers that contain solvents.
  4. Try to peel off or re-position a label.

CD/DVD Archival Storage, Prevent data loss and CD fading

Posted in Storage on May 21st, 2007 by Mark Rogers – 2 Comments

CD’s and DVD’s are a very convenient for backing up your photo’s but unfortunately CD’s and DVD’s can fade and become unreadable. Typical life expectancy of a CD is only 2-20 years depending on the usage and storage. It turns out they are susceptible to airborne pollutants and light. Archivalware Storage Systems with Corrosion Intercept Technology can increase the lifespan of discs by 40 years or more. Ozone and reactive oxygen can cause the metal layer of the CD/DVD to break down and oxidize. Frame Destination, Inc. has recently added this product line for our customers, many of whom are professional photographers. 8-CD pages combined with 3-ring album are great for storing collections of CD’s. The CD/DVD storage pockets with adhesive backs are great for storing digital copies of photographs in the back of a print album sold to a customer. The CD/DVD angle flap storage pockets are convenient for storing individual discs. We also carry Jewel Case inserts which can be used to make a standard CD/DVD jewel case archival and this product is available in 100-packs.

Cheers,

Mark

Frame Destination, Inc. recently added photo print sleeves to its photo storage product line. We now have three types of print sleeves. Sealed on two sides, open with easy locking flap, and mounting sleeves. All of the sleeves are safe for long term photo storage and protection. They are acid-free and pvc-free. The mounting sleeves have adhesive strips that make mounting in scrapbooks and photo albums easy. Most of them are available in a variety of sizes including inkjet printer paper sizes such as 8.5×11, 11×17, 11.75×16.5 and 13×19. We also have volume discounts starting at just 2 packs. Panoramic clearbags for 13×38 images

Posted in Frame Sizes, Storage on August 11th, 2006 by Mark Rogers – Be the first to comment

Per Jim Coffee’s request on the yahoo artshow_photo forum, I had Impact Images (clearbags) manufacture a custom size bag for 13 x 38 panoramic prints. The actual size is 13 7/16 x 38 1/8 so a mounted print will fit in the bag. My company is also offering 13×38 foamboard. 13×38 is a significant panoramic size because 13×38 paper is available from Red River (www.redriverpaper.com). I know other companies make panoramic paper of similar sizes but I went with this one because of Jim, and my company is familiar with Red River paper. This size is not available from clearbags.
