Ecommerce and the Xmas shipping rush
Posted in Business on November 20th, 2006 by Mark Rogers – Be the first to commentIn the last few years more and more people have become comfortable with purchasing online. This has resulted in the shipping companies having record Christmas rushes since all these online purchases have to be shipped. If you are doing your Christmas shopping online you will want to keep this in mind. When businesses run at double or triple their normal rates they will have problems. The most obvious issue is slightly longer shipping times for ground. The shipping companies are also likely to hire many contract workers. The contract workers are less familiar with procedures and routes, which can cause delays. We always warn our customers to ship via guaranteed express 3-day, 2-day or overnight if they really need their product by a certain date. The shipping companies put more priority on these packages but express packages can also see delays. Express is transported via air and cold weather can shut down an airport causing those packages to be delayed.
Cheers,
Mark
